The Stirring (2026)
From The Stages of Becoming Series
Watercolor on Paper Framed 20.5” x 28.4”
The Stirring captures the quiet, instinctual moment before transformation begins—the inner realization that says, I can’t stay here. A woman rests within a cocoon, dressed in white and folded inward in reflection. She is not resisting change, but sensing it. The surrounding desert, barren and dust-filled, reflects past and present environments that once sustained her but no longer do, mirroring the conditions that awaken the need for something more.
Like a caterpillar just before metamorphosis, this moment is marked by stillness rather than struggle. The cocoon is not a place of confinement, but of response—an instinctual retreat guided by an unseen inner shift. The Stirring honors the sacred pause before surrender, reminding us that transformation begins long before it is visible, when the soul quietly aligns with the truth that it is time to become.
