The Catch - Trust
Medium: 40h x 30w in, Oil on Canvas

"Faith is not waiting for the miracle. Faith is reaching for it." - Melvin D Nix

Two children lean into the rhythm of a childhood game, releasing, reaching, and preparing to catch what comes back to them. Scattered between them, the jacks become more than a game—they become a metaphor for life itself: we let go, we act with intention, and we trust ourselves to be ready for what returns.

Like the game of jacks, life asks us to participate. Faith is not simply believing something will happen; it is the willingness to move, to reach, to take the next step—and to trust that we can meet what comes our way.

The Catch represents the moment where belief becomes action and trust becomes embodied.
These four pillars—Release. Act. Receive. Trust.—create a foundation not only for this body of work, but for the journey of becoming.
